Happy Birthday, Jesus!

Luke 2 (The Message):

"About that time Caesar Augustus ordered a census to be taken throughout the Empire. This was the first census when Quirinius was governor of Syria. Everyone had to travel to his own ancestral hometown to be accounted for. So Joseph went from the Galilean town of Nazareth up to Bethlehem in Judah, David's town, for the census. As a descendant of David, he had to go there. He went with Mary, his fiancée, who was pregnant.

While they were there, the time came for her to give birth. She gave birth to a son, her firstborn. She wrapped him in a blanket and laid him in a manger, because there was no room in the hostel.

There were sheepherders camping in the neighborhood. They had set night watches over their sheep. Suddenly, God's angel stood among them and God's glory blazed around them. They were terrified. The angel said, "Don't be afraid. I'm here to announce a great and joyful event that is meant for everybody, worldwide: A Savior has just been born in David's town, a Savior who is Messiah and Master. This is what you're to look for: a baby wrapped in a blanket and lying in a manger."

At once the angel was joined by a huge angelic choir singing God's praises: Glory to God in the heavenly heights, Peace to all men and women on earth who please him.

As the angel choir withdrew into heaven, the sheepherders talked it over. "Let's get over to Bethlehem as fast as we can and see for ourselves what God has revealed to us." They left, running, and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in the manger. Seeing was believing. They told everyone they met what the angels had said about this child. All who heard the sheepherders were impressed.

Mary kept all these things to herself, holding them dear, deep within herself. The sheepherders returned and let loose, glorifying and praising God for everything they had heard and seen. It turned out exactly the way they'd been told!

When the eighth day arrived, the day of circumcision, the child was named Jesus, the name given by the angel before he was conceived."

The name "Jesus": God Saves. Salvation
The name "Messiah": The Christ, The Anointed One.
The name "Immanuel": God with Us

Happy Birthday, Jesus!
Thank you for coming to Earth to rescue us from our eternal destination, Hell.

You are the REAL Gift-Giver. You have given us gifts of Love, Forgiveness, and Reconciliation.

Despite our selfishness, our rebellion- despite our sins... you still want a relationship with us. That's Grace!

We love you, Jesus!

"The Christmas Story" Through A Child's Voice

"The Christmas Story" told by a child.
Pure, Simple and True.

"I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it." And He took the children in his arms, put His hands on them and blessed them." Mark 10:15-16 (NIV)

Do you see Jesus through the eyes of a child?
Child-like faith is full of wonder - full of hope - and full of promise.

Jesus came to this earth to save you. He wants to have an eternal relationship with you.

Pin all your trust on Him. This holiday season isn't about a decorated Christmas tree. It's about the tree, the cross that He decorated with forgiveness, love, and grace.

"The Purpose of Christmas"

Have you ever asked yourself, "What is the real purpose of Christmas?"

A reporter from FOX Business interviews Pastor Rick Warren regarding the meaning of Christmas.

Pastor Rick shares about "getting back to the real purpose of Christmas".

If you are unable to view the stream or if it's going too slow, go here:

Pastor Rick's celebration of Christmas of 51 years is something we all should think about intigrating into our own homes.

Making new traditions:
* Hold a birthday party for Jesus
* Sing Christmas carols
* Read "The Christmas Story" (Matthew 1:18 - Matthew 2:23)
* Share what you are most thankful to God for - "Attitude of Gratitude".
* Gifts for Jesus: Share non-material things you have given to Jesus. Life, time, wisdom, commitment and service.
* Make/buy a birthday cake for Jesus and sing "Happy Birthday" to Him.
* The youngest in the family blows out the candle

These are radical ideas. Ideas that are against what our culture would say Christmas is all about. You will be getting rid of the "me" attitude and focusing on the "gratitude" of the real life gift-giver, Jesus Christ.

Make it about celebrating all the wonderful things Christ has done for you-- starting with His birth here on Earth.

A classic song released in 2000, by the Christian music group called Newsong.

The Christmas Shoes is a story about a young boy who wants to purchase a pair of shoes for his dying mother. He understood the sacrifices his mother has made for him in his short life. The boy was overwhelmed by his mother' to

When faced with not enough money he turns to a man who is standing in line behind the him. The man reaches in his wallet and pays for the shoes. These aren't just ordinary shoes, these are shoes that are a token of the boy's love for all that his mom has done for him.

The boy understood the sacrifices his mother has made for him. She went without so he wouldn't have to.

Why the shoes? The boy wanted his mom to look beautiful when she meets Jesus in Heaven.

Washing Off The Dirt

"so He got up from the meal, took off His outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist. After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash His disciples' feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him." John 13:4-5 (NIV)

Jesus demonstrated His love and eternal cleansing to His disciples by taking on the role of a lowly servant. Jesus wrapped a towel around His waist, got on His knees and washed His disciples' feet.

In the ancient East, the people's feet were the filthiest part of their body. They wore open-toed sandals as they walked miles through dirt and mud. What Jesus did was a deliberate act- a token of love - an example of what He was about to do, not only for His followers, but for the whole world.

You see, Jesus wanted to show His servitude. He wanted to let the disciples know, that if they allow Him, He is willing to cleanse the filthiest part of their body. Later, they will come to realize He is going to be the ultimate sacrifice for all their sins - cleansing their hearts.

Jesus did not come into the world to judge it, but rescue those who are lost.

When was the last time you put your feet in the basin of Jesus?

He wants to wash the grimiest parts of your life. Your heart may be a caked on mess of hurts, habits, and anger. He wants to give you a clean, new start.

First, you must admit that your heart is filthy, full of sin that has hurt God and those around you. You will never be cleansed until you confess you are dirty. There is forgiveness waiting for you!

Pray and talk to Jesus today! Acknowledge your heart is dirty and it's time to surrender it over to the basin of Jesus. His blood on the cross will cleanse you. He will take up your pain- your regrets- and give you a new life, a new path full of hope.

"That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.

As the Scripture says, 'Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame.' " Romans 10:9-11 (NIV)
